Thomson Rogers LLP’s historic $30,000 donation to Camp Dawn featured in the London Free Press

The London Free Press has featured Thomson Rogers LLP’s $30,000 donation to Camp Dawn, highlighting how the gift is letting 100 acquired brain injury (ABI) survivors attend this year’s camp free of charge for the first time in the program’s history.

A gift that removes the cost barrier

To mark its 90th anniversary last year, Thomson Rogers pledged to cover camper fees for the entire 2026 session of Camp Dawn, a registered non-profit that runs a four-day program, this year at Easter Seals Camp Woodeden in London, Ontario. The $30,000 gift, announced last September, means every camper this year, whether attending independently or with a personal care assistant, can take part without the financial barrier of camper fees standing in the way.

Why Thomson Rogers got involved

Matt Sutton, a partner at Thomson Rogers, told the London Free Press the firm’s connection to Camp Dawn grew naturally out of its brain injury practice.

“We do a lot of brain injury cases so we were connected with Camp Dawn, which gives four days for people with various types of brain injuries to come and just live a normal kind of stress-free life,” Sutton said.

Stephen D’Agostino, Thomson Rogers’ managing partner, said: “We wanted to mark our 90th year with a lasting contribution that removes barriers and ensures the full camp community can participate.”

What it means for campers

For campers like Carly Piett, a 36-year-old Seaforth resident and third-year attendee, Camp Dawn offers a rare chance to be understood without explanation. Piett, who sustained an acquired brain injury in a 2019 car crash near Ingersoll, told the London Free Press she counts down the days until she can return.

“I feel rejuvenated, is the word. I wait every year to come back and see my friends,” Piett said. “I absolutely adore it, getting to be around people that understand me without having to talk about it.”
