Kerry’s Head for the Hills Trail Race 2018
April 21, 2018
In 1994, Kerry Weaver was a competitive race walker and a dedicated member of the St. Catharines Roadrunners & Walkers. She was scheduled to compete in the World Association of Veteran Athlete’s World Road Race Championships being held in Scarborough that year. As part of her cross-training, she was riding her bicycle to an appointment but she never arrived. She was run down by an inattentive driver. In that flash of a second, her life was dramatically changed.
Kerry suffered a brain injury. She developed inexplicable problems with her memory, her ability to think and major motor skills.
Kerry decided to do something to help other people who have suffered a brain injury. She became an integral part of the Brain Injury Association of Niagara (BIAN) with the expectation of helping others. Though she can never return to her old life, she decided to embrace her new one and move forward.
Kerry, therefore, helped introduce and implement, “Kerry’s Head for the Hills Trail Race”. It is a worthy cause, and an opportunity for all of us to join in and help someone.
All proceeds go to the Brain Injury Association of Niagara. Last year, over $27,000 was raised.
Join Thomson Rogers lawyers on April 21st at the starting line. The race takes place at Princess Park, 16 Melbourne Ave, St. Catherines, Ontario. It includes 5K and 10K options.
