Biography
Konstantine Stavrakos is a municipal lawyer, land use planning lawyer, expropriations lawyer and environmental lawyer with extensive experience in both government and private practice. A former town solicitor, Konstantine advises municipalities, public agencies and private sector clients on the legal issues shaping how Ontario’s cities and towns grow and change.
Konstantine is a trusted municipal law advisor to municipalities, conservation authorities, public agencies and private sector clients navigating local government law, land use planning and environmental regulation in Ontario. Having managed a municipal legal department, he brings firsthand knowledge of how local government works, gained from the daily demands of providing legal services to municipal staff and council.
For municipal and public sector clients, this means practical, solutions-driven legal advice that accounts for the real constraints under which municipalities operate. For private sector and development clients, it means knowing how to work effectively with municipalities, conservation authorities and public agencies to secure approvals and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Konstantine provides a full range of legal services in municipal law, planning and development law, environmental law, expropriations, by-law enforcement and provincial offences. His practice covers legal advisory work, regulatory approvals strategy and the preparation of legal instruments ranging from by-laws to agreements, through to litigation when necessary. He appears regularly before courts and tribunals, including the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Ontario Court of Justice (Provincial Offences), the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal.
Konstantine has a particular interest in the role municipalities play as the pressure point for major technological and environmental change, from smart cities to climate change, and the opportunity local government has to shape how Ontarians live now and in the future. Clients rely on his ability to listen, communicate and build consensus while advancing their interests strategically.
