Jehanzeb Ali helps municipal and public sector clients across Ontario navigate complex planning and expropriation law matters with practical, outcome-focused legal counsel.
As an associate in the Planning, Expropriation and Municipal Law Group at Thomson Rogers LLP, Jehanzeb provides practical, outcome-focused counsel while navigating the complexities of municipal law and planning processes. In his role, he employs a collaborative approach, working closely with clients and colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Jehanzeb’s practice focuses on planning, expropriation and municipal law, advising municipalities, public sector clients and property owners on matters including land use planning, development approvals, municipal disputes and the expropriation of property. His work involves balancing the interests of public authorities with those of private landowners and requires a detailed understanding of the statutory and regulatory framework governing municipal decision-making in Ontario.
Prior to joining Thomson Rogers LLP as an associate, Jehanzeb articled at a reputable firm in Oakville, Ontario, where he gained valuable exposure to a wide variety of municipal law issues. Before articling, Jehanzeb summered at a Mississauga boutique firm focused on civil litigation and regulatory matters.
Jehanzeb received his juris doctor degree from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law in 2024 and was called to the bar in 2025. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate degree in psychology at York University, where he developed a strong analytical mindset and a keen interest in understanding human behaviour.
