Thomson Rogers fondly remembers Douglas Goudie

It is with sadness that we share that our former partner Douglas Goudie Q.C. has passed away.

Doug became a partner at Thomson Rogers in 1958 and continued until 1999. He was a contemporary of Thomson Rogers law Partners Ken Howie, Laurie Mandel, Ralph Howie, and Keith Gibson to name a few.

An accomplished litigator, and one of the top appellate lawyers in Ontario, Doug regularly appeared before Ontario’s Court of Appeal and argued several cases before the Supreme Court of Canada. His record of reported appellant cases is unmatched in our firm to this day.

Doug was also a mentor to many in the firm. He worked with all of the firm’s departments while heading our insurance defence department. Craig Brown, who worked regularly with Doug, recalls that the “…important thing about Doug was his personality and the joy he gave people around him in the practice of law.”
