StepStones for Youth: Supporting Young Mothers for Our 90th Anniversary
December 8, 2025
As part of our 90th anniversary celebrations, Thomson Rogers LLP is proud to support StepStones for Youth with a $30,000 donation. Our Family Law Group decided to use the funds to support young mothers and their children by providing a mix of practical essentials and comfort items for their families. The almost 40 items to be packed had been provided by Kits for a Cause after consulting with StepStones on what was most needed.
A boardroom at Thomson Rogers was filled with an enthusiastic group of lawyers and staff who rolled up their sleeves, and hand packed almost 100 duffle bags. The energy in the room reflected what matters most to us: showing up, working together, and doing something that can make a difference in someone’s life.
Why This Partnership Matters
StepStones for Youth focuses on helping youth transitioning out of the child welfare system move forward with confidence. They provide programs to improve educational outcomes, secure stable housing, and build long-lasting support networks for young people who need it. For our Family Law Group, supporting young mothers through StepStones was a natural fit. “We want to recognize their strengths in our strengths and vice versa,” said managing partner Stephen D’Agostino.
That shared emphasis on determination and resilience is at the heart of this 90th anniversary initiative. The care kits are one way of acknowledging how much these young mothers are already doing, and allow us to make a small contribution to their long-term success.
Looking Ahead with StepStones
For StepStones, this support is about both today and tomorrow. “This gift is extra special to us because it not only has benefits now, but down the road as well,” says Jackson Walker, director of operations at StepStones for Youth.
At Thomson Rogers, “Real Life Counsel” has always meant more than legal advocacy. As we mark 90 years, we are honoured to stand alongside StepStones for Youth in supporting young mothers and their children as they build stronger futures.
