MG Law and Thomson Rogers issue a $500M Lawsuit After Fatal Bus Crash on Hwy. 401

MG Law and Thomson Rogers issued a $500M statement of claim following from a disastrous bus accident that killed three Chinese tourists and injured the vast majority of the 37 passengers on board on June 4, 2018. Injured passengers had to be transported for treatment by helicopter and land ambulance to various hospitals throughout the region including Ottawa, Kingston, Kemptville and Brockville.

On December 4, 2019, personal injury lawyers at MG Law and Thomson Rogers have submitted a statement of claim naming 39 plaintiffs consisting of 23 passengers and 16 family members who have suffered various traumatic and catastrophic injuries or who have been forced to deal with various losses directly resulting from the tragic event.

The bus driver in the crash has been charged while injured survivors have been left feeling “‘helpless’ in China”.

Included among the five defendants named in the lawsuit are the bus driver Jia Qi, and the travel company, Union Tour Express Inc.

The bus was transporting passengers on a 10-day tour of the Eastern United States and Canada and was travelling from Ottawa to Toronto at the time of the accident.
