Biography

Stan Floras was called to the Ontario Bar in 1986 and worked in private practice representing municipal clients. He then joined the Region of Halton as planning and development legal counsel, responsible for overseeing several major strategic initiatives including the negotiation of complex development agreements. He dealt with service allocation programs to manage and accommodate population and employment growth with the urban expansion of North Oakville and Milton and he also oversaw complex aggregate development approvals that secured environmental safeguards with resource extraction. As a strategic problem solver, Stan has a proven track record of delivering results for the Region.

In 2007, Stan pursued new challenges when he joined the Ministry of the Attorney General as tribunal counsel to the Ontario Municipal Board. In that role, he represented the Tribunal before all levels of Ontario Courts, on novel jurisdictional or procedural disputes. Stan also played an instrumental role in the consolidation of the former constituent boards and tribunals of the Ontario Land Tribunal.

Stan is excited to return to the private sector to apply his extensive experience in his municipal practice.
