Thomson Rogers LLP is proud to be the exclusive legal sponsor of Camp Dawn, a one-of-a-kind outdoor camp experience designed specifically for adults living with the effects of an acquired brain injury (ABI).

Camper applications are now open for Camp Dawn, which will take place from September 11–14, 2025, at Campfire Circle Campground in Waterford, Ontario.

Whether you’re new to Camp Dawn or a returning camper, this four-day event offers a powerful mix of recreation, community, and personal growth in a safe, supportive environment.

What is Camp Dawn?

Camp Dawn was established in 2003 to give ABI survivors in Ontario a meaningful space to reconnect – with themselves, others, and with nature. While it began as a recreational retreat, it has grown into a deeply impactful experience for many of its participants. Camp is held every September and provides a range of outdoor activities designed to support independence, self-confidence, and social connection among adults living with brain injuries.

Campers stay on-site at Campfire Circle Campground, located at 433 Thompson Road West in Waterford, Ontario. Over the course of four days, they engage in group activities, enjoy communal meals, try new hobbies, and—perhaps most importantly—share time with others who truly understand what it means to live with a brain injury.

Camp Dawn continues to evolve each year based on the needs and feedback of its community. Activities are designed with accessibility in mind, and the environment encourages participation at each person’s own pace. Whether it’s joining a group activity or spending quiet time outdoors, campers are supported in making the experience their own. For some, it’s a chance to try something new; for others, it’s simply the opportunity to return to a place that feels familiar and welcoming.

This is not just a break from daily routines. It’s a chance to recharge, laugh, be active, and build meaningful relationships in a safe, inclusive space.

Who Can Apply?

Camp Dawn is open to adults aged 18 or older who are survivors of an acquired brain injury. Most campers come from across Southwestern Ontario, but those living outside the region are welcome to apply and should contact the organizers directly to discuss accommodations or accessibility needs.

Applications must be submitted to Camp Dawn no later than July 15, 2025 – but do it sooner than later as applications are on a rolling basis. After your application is received, you’ll be contacted by them in early August with an update on your status.

Why We’re Proud to Sponsor Camp Dawn

As a firm that’s been around for 90 years, Thomson Rogers LLP works closely with survivors of brain injuries and their families. We see first-hand the long-term impact these injuries can have—not only on a person’s physical and cognitive function but also on their social and emotional well-being.

Camp Dawn provides an experience that we believe is just as important to recovery as any form of therapy or treatment: belonging, community, and joy. That’s why we are honoured to be Camp Dawn’s exclusive legal sponsor. For us, this isn’t just about funding—it’s about supporting a space where ABI survivors are empowered to thrive.

Being involved in Camp Dawn also allows our team to stay closely connected to the brain injury community in Southwestern Ontario. We are always listening and learning, and this connection helps inform how we advocate for our clients in both legal and practical ways.

Last year, several members of our firm had the opportunity to visit Camp Dawn in person—and we left with wonderful memories of laughter, friendship, and resilience. We invite you to watch our video from last year’s experience, which captures the spirit of camp better than words ever could.

Every year, campers share that Camp Dawn has helped them rediscover a sense of normalcy and joy that can sometimes feel out of reach after a brain injury. Many describe it as the one time each year they feel truly understood, supported, and connected.

What Campers Say

For returning campers, it’s a reunion. For new campers, it’s a chance to start fresh, to build new relationships, and to find strength in community.

If you or someone you know is living with the effects of an acquired brain injury and would benefit from a supported camp experience, we encourage you to apply today.
