With back-to-school season in full swing, e-scooters are everywhere – but many riders don’t know the risks. Daniel Garas breaks it down in this video.
As e-scooters become more popular, we’re seeing more and more e-scooters nowadays, especially in Toronto. With the rise in e-scooter use, we’re seeing a lot of people not using helmets. We’re also seeing a lot more children riding e-scooters, and parents should make sure that their children ride safely. That means wearing a helmet, and that means operating at safe speeds.
How serious are e-scooter accidents?
E-scooters can be very dangerous if struck by a motor vehicle, especially when the person is not wearing a helmet. Even in a case where a motor vehicle is not involved, let’s say the person is riding the e-scooter and hits a pothole. If they’re thrown from the e-scooter, they can sustain serious injuries.
What should I do if I’ve been in an e-scooter accident?
Our team here has been seeing a lot more e-scooter cases and they are quite complex within the legal system, especially because it’s more nuanced. If you or a loved one have been injured in an e-scooter accident, please feel free to reach out to Thomson Rogers LLP. We’d be happy to help.
