Class Action Against Belleville Orthodontist, Dr. Garry Solomon

Thomson Rogers has been retained by Sarah Davidson (“Sarah”) to investigate civil claims against former Belleville Orthodontist, Dr. Garry Solomon, relating to his alleged secret video recording of hundreds of his female patients. According to the news report from the Kingston Whig Standard dated July 19, 2017, the former orthodontist has been charged with, “voyeurism – surreptitiously recording images of a person over the age of 18 years, voyeurism – surreptitiously recording images of a person under the age of 18 years, possession of child pornography and making child pornography.”

Sarah is currently 28 years of age. She was a patient of the former orthodontist in 2004/2005 when she was just 15 years old. She has been notified by police that she is one of several hundred of the former orthodontist’s victims who were surreptitiously videotaped, without consent, while under his care at his Belleville dental office. It is understood that hundreds of similar videotapes were seized by police from the former orthodontist during a recent search of his office and house.

UPDATE (APRIL 17, 2020):

The motion for certification and settlement approval will be heard by way of video conference on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 10:00 am.

Any member of the media or public who wishes to hear and/or observe the motion hearing may email their request to the local courthouse staff at [email protected] in advance of the May 8, 2020 hearing. The person requesting access should provide their name, the hearing they wish to hear/observe and their contact information.

Due to COVID-19 and the court closures, the motion certification and settlement approval originally scheduled for April 20, 2020 has been re-scheduled. We will provide an update on the new motion date as soon as possible.

UPDATE (October 18, 2017):

CLASS ACTION COMMENCED AGAINST DR. SOLOMON

A class action has been issued against the late, Dr. Garry Solomon seeking compensation on behalf of all his patients that were allegedly surreptitiously videotaped by Dr. Solomon.

According to the news report from the Kingston Whig dated July 19, 2017, the former orthodontist was charged prior to his death with, “voyeurism-surreptitiously recording images of a person over the age of 18 years, voyeurism-surreptitiously recording images of a person under the age of 18 years, possession of child pornography and making child pornography.”

Thomson Rogers will be working on the class action as co-counsel with the Bonn Law Office.

The class action will proceed against Dr. Solomon’s estate in light of Dr. Solomon’s recent passing.

Recent media reports have confirmed the death of Dr. Solomon. Despite his passing, Thomson Rogers continues to evaluate the most efficient means of assisting victims in pursuit of potential civil claims against Dr. Solomon.
