RYOBI-brand hedge trimmer recalled product

Thomson Rogers LLP has been contacted about an accident involving a RYOBI-brand hedge trimmer. The safety feature allegedly malfunctioned, leading it to unexpectedly turn on in its user’s hands, causing deep lacerations with ongoing complications.

More recently, Health Canada recalled several RYOBI hedge trimmer models, citing “potential laceration hazards.”

This recall involves the following RYOBI-branded 40V cordless 24” hedge trimmers:

  • Green and black handle with an orange blade
  • Manufactured from March 2021 to June 2024
  • Model numbers RY40620VNM ꞁ RY40602VNM ꞁ RY40602BTLVNM*
  • Serial numbers with the following ranges: LT21091D180001 to LT22365D060025 ꞁ RG23125N250001 to RG24252D101110*

*The model and serial numbers are on the data plate located on the bottom of the trimmer.
