What does ‘no cost, no obligation’ really mean? Hear all about contingency fees from Stephen Birman in this video.
What is a contingency fee?
A contingency fee is a legal fee that is only paid in the event of a successful outcome at the conclusion of a personal injury case.
How does the contingency fee work?
Most lawyers in Ontario are paid on an hourly rate basis. In a personal injury case, we don’t ask our clients to pay us for our time as our time as the case is going along, we take on the risk of the case along with our clients, we recover a contingency fee at the conclusion of the case, only if your case is successful. If your case is not successful, you don’t pay anything.
What percentage is the contingency fee?
At our first meeting, we will talk about the percentage in your case. It will be based on the type of case, the type of injury you’ve suffered, and the potential recovery you may make.
Is there a fee to meet with a personal injury lawyer?
If you’ve been involved in a personal injury accident, a lawyer at Thomson Rogers will come and meet with you at no cost and no obligation whatsoever. We’ll come to the hospital, if you’re not in the hospital, you’re welcome to come to our office and we’ll have that meeting with no cost and no obligation.
